When I took the HSK 6 in 2011 in anticipation of graduation, I wasn’t sure I had passed. But I had, by a fair margin: 226 out of 300, with 180 being a passing grade. When I took the HSK 6 last month, I was pretty sure I hadn’t passed this time. Amazingly, my score was almost identical.

My reading and listening had both gone down, but since the test was taken on a computer, and therefore eliminated the need to write characters by hand, my writing score went way up. Somehow they balanced each other out to bring me a score of 224, only two points short of what I got last time.

My goal now is to work my way up to 270 within the next two years. I’ll be writing a post before long on how I’m working in that direction.
